Peer-Leader Application FAQ
The deadline to apply for 2026-27 ASLA Peer Leader roles is February 15, 2026. Keep in mind that there are two different applications, one for Study Groups and Tutoring (PGSG, MSP, Drop-In Peer Tutoring), and another for Peer Academic Coaching and UPAL (group coaching). Before applying, be sure to read the position descriptions.

Study Groups and Tutoring application information
Peer-Guided Study Groups, Drop-In Tutoring, Mentored Study ProgramWhat is the application process?
To be considered for the position, all applicants must
- submit a fully completed application (see next FAQ item)
- meet grade requirements (B+ or higher in courses you wish to lead)
- attend an interview
How can I apply to be a Study Group Leader or Tutor?
You can apply for a Study Group and Tutoring position . The peer-leader application is thorough, so we recommend you take your time completing it. The general outline of the application is as follows:
- Background information
- Program commitment (program interest, availability, transcript submission)
- Open-ended and scenario-based questions
What is the interview process?
Typically, interviews are 1:1 over Zoom, and last about 15 minutes. Interviews are conducted by ASLA staff and current peer leaders.
What is the selection process?
Applications for the 2026-27 academic year will be reviewed during the last two weeks of February, 2026.
ASLA staff will read all complete applications and extend interview invitations to applicants. Final decisions should be made by May 4, 2026.
What are important dates to keep in mind?
All newly hired peer leaders are expected to attend the following mandatory trainings:
- New Peer-Leader Orientation, Saturday, May 2, 2026
- Fall Peer-Leader Orientation, TBD
